Canadian progressive thrash and beyond-genre band Voïvod has just ended an impressive European tour through which they presented the fourteenth studio album, “The Wake”. Kraków’s “minus”, a pronounced improvement of the sludge aesthetics through progressive means
Everything is really well-condensed on “minus” and one can tell that only by looking at the playing time. It’s less than 40 minutes of music which focuses on the best the band could give at this moment. Howling Sycamore, an impressive form of rhythm and loudness
Davide Tiso, the mastermind of the project Howling Sycamore, made already clear the fact that his music is guided by otherworldly threads. The last album by Ephel Duath is a sheer instance of this direction, not to mention the debut of the beloved Karyn Crisis, the Gospel of the Witches…
Jaymz Lennfield • Beatallica • Top 10
A Top 10 is so tough. Especially when you consider how heavy metal has changed over the decades. I mean, hell, The Cream was one of the heaviest bands around in the 60’s. So, I disregarded the “rock” and went straight to the heavier stuff. My apologies to AC/DC, Kiss, and many others…
