Together with Costin Chioreanu, we began this project, entitled Expression Time, with the desire to create a space for encounter and reflection dedicated to expression in painting, music, literature, theatre and all other realms. Through this initiative, we aim to commemorate, evoke, and celebrate the artists who are part of this universe—artists we admire, respect, and whose contributions continue to inspire us.

We are delighted that the first episode is dedicated to the memory of Marin Gherasim, and that we had the joy of bringing together the artists Ștefan Pelmuș and Alina Gherasim in the very studio where Gherasim spent much of his life and professional activity, while Costin Chioreanu enriched this visual and auditory tableau with Nemescu-inspired vibrancy, albeit from a different creative center.
The connection between music and painting, between Octavian Nemescu and Marin Gherasim, surpasses any simple measure or definition. Their influence on Costin Chioreanu is profound and subtle, shaping his perception, sensitivity, and understanding of art. Involved in both fields, Chioreanu explores daily the invisible links between sound and color, rhythm and form, harmony and contrast, continually discovering new hidden dimensions within the creative universe of these two masters.
This artistic dialogue is deeply moving: on canvas, Ștefan Pelmuș creates a calm and meditative world, rich with symbols and spiritual themes, while the writing of Alina Gherasim brings a narrative dimension in which memory and personal reflection come alive. I would like to return to emphasize that Marin Gherasim, a painter of remarkable importance and influence in Romanian culture, was born into a traditional family in Marginea Suceviței, a region renowned for the richness and depth of Bukovinian traditions. This place, steeped in spirituality and endowed with an impressive cultural heritage, provided the context in which his first steps into the world of art and visual beauty took shape, shaping the painter’s sensitivity and vision. The atmosphere of the region, the values passed down within his family, and the immersion in local customs contributed to the formation of a profound artistic universe, where memory, nature, and tradition intertwine with personal exploration and Marin Gherasim’s creative expression.

One of the most important Romanian painters of all time, Ștefan Pelmuș has created a unique artistic universe that is instantly recognizable and impossible to imitate. Innovation was also born in Valea Călugărească, where Ștefan Pelmuș was born on August 19, 1949.
