Simon Füllemann / Cataract
Burn - All
Well, this band was just way ahead of time. Especially their "Revelations" 7" gave me the chills and still does. It's a record I always think: "How could they write those riffs back then?". It's hard melodic and absolutely groovy.
Leeway - Born To Expire
First ever metalcore record in my eyes. Amazing tight record with Eddi Suttons memorable singing. 'The Intro' alone is worth buying this record.
Metallica - Ride The Lightning
This started it all off in my eyes. Metallica at its best, even though "Masters Of Puppets" is amazing and timeless too, but I like the guitar sound on this a lot more.
Rorschach - All
Another band from NY city. They were one of the first bands that experience with style and put out the most brutal, conceptional record with "protestant" back in the nienties. They influenced me on the guitar playing a lot. Also they listened a lot to Suffocation and had metalheads in the band. Which was pretty insane back then as a hardcore band. For me the Mastodon of end eighties, early nienties.
Slayer - Reign In Blood
What to say about this record? Best fucking thrash album ever, well best hard music record ever. It blew me away when I got it and it still does.
Negative Approach - Tied Down
Best ever hardcore record! Came out in 1982 and is so brutal and rocking, it's amazing. They were better than the rest and the vocals are just crazy.
Poison Idea - Feel The Darkness
I always loved that band, from first to last record, but this record gave me the chills too. Never thought punk rock could be so fucking amazing.
Hatebreed - Satisfaction Is The Death Of Desire & Perserverance
Well, this record started the big boom around metal oriented hardcore in 1997. There was nobody in HC that didn't like it and it sounded so amazingly huge back then. The recordings are amazing. It brings 14 songs in 26 minutes. That's enough!
Pantera - Vulgar Display Of Power
My favorite metal record. I love everything about it. All the musicians are just amazing. Weekly doses of this and you are cured.
Earth Crisis - Firestorm
This CD took the HC community by storm. It basically started the straight edge metalcore thing more or less, at least it gave it the most important push back in 1991. And it was so fucking SxE. I love the lyrics.
